Future Traditions Festival 2019
Photo Gallery
Future Traditions 2019 took place from April 24 to May 2, 2019. The main performance event was held at the Museum of Human Achievement on May 3, along with the panel discussion on Latinidad, tradition, and experimentation. Guest lectures by Matt Steinke and Efraín Rozas were held at the University of Texas at Austin on April 24 and May 2.
We curated collaborations between the following teams of traditional music/dance groups with multimedia artists/electronic composers:
Waché and Matt Steinke
Afro-Caribbean Soul Collective and Las Raras
Ballet Folklorico de Austin and Natalia Rocafuerte
Additionally, the event featured performances by artists exploring these tensions within their work:
José Martinez (in collaboration with Carolina Sirias and Michael Brunner)
Efraín Rozas
Chulita Vinyl Club ATX kept us dancing and happy.
